For Grade 4 Students (Age 9-10) - Let's learn to read, write, and understand bigger numbers!
In Grade 3, you learned about numbers up to 1000. Now we're ready to explore even bigger numbers! In this lesson, you will learn:
When we add 1 to 999, we get 1000. This is called **One Thousand**. One thousand is a 4-digit number.
Example:
To read any 4-digit number, we start from the thousands place.
Example: 3248
This is read as "**Three thousand two hundred forty-eight**".
3 (Thousands) 2 (Hundreds) 4 (Tens) 8 (Ones)
The value of each digit in a number changes based on its position. This is called **Place Value**. Now we add the Thousands place too!
The number shown in the picture above is **1245**.
Example: 5462
Write the given number in words.
Tell the place value of the underlined digit.
Arrange the numbers in ascending order (smallest to largest).
