For Grade 3 Mathematics
Students will be able to read and write time using analog and digital clocks, understand AM and PM, and calculate simple durations.
An analog clock has an hour hand (short) and a minute hand (long). The hour hand tells us the hour, and the minute hand tells us the minutes past the hour. Each number on the clock represents 5 minutes for the minute hand.
Example:
Digital clocks show time using numbers, like 8:30. We use **AM** for times from midnight (12:00 AM) to just before noon (12:00 PM). We use **PM** for times from noon (12:00 PM) to just before midnight (12:00 AM).
Examples:
There are 60 minutes in 1 hour. Knowing this helps us calculate durations and convert between hours and minutes.
Example:
Read the time and write it in the requested format.
Is this activity happening in AM or PM?
