Basic Subtraction:

Subtraction is taking one number away from another. When you subtract, you find the **difference** between two numbers.

Example:

Here, 35 is subtracted from 87, and the difference is 52.

    (There were 34 flowers bloomed on a branch. If 24 flowers were plucked from it, how many flowers are left on the branch?)
  3. බිමක සිටුවිය හැකි පොල් පැළ සංඛ්‍යාව 98කි. දැනට පැළ 53ක් සිටුවා ඇත. තවත් පැළ කීයක් සිටුවිය හැකිද?
    (The number of coconut saplings that can be planted on a land is 98. 53 saplings have been planted so far. How many more saplings can be planted?)
  4. බෝතලයක ටොෆි 89ක් තිබුණි. ළමයින්ට බෙදා දුන් පසු එහි 37ක් ඉතිරි විය. බෙදා දුන් ටොෆි ගණන කීයද?
    (There were 89 toffees in a bottle. After distributing to children, 37 were left. How many toffees were distributed?)
  5. එක් අඹ ගසක අඹ ගෙඩි 96කි. තවත් අඹ ගසක අඹ ගෙඩි 72කි. අඹ ගස් දෙකෙහි ඇති අඹ ගෙඩි ගණන අතර වෙනස කීයද?
    (One mango tree has 96 mangoes. Another mango tree has 72 mangoes. What is the difference between the number of mangoes on the two trees?)
  6. ශාලාවක තබා ඇති පුටු ගණන 45කි. එහි තැබිය හැකි මුළු පුටු ගණන 96කි. තවත් පුටු කීයක් තැබිය හැකිද?
    (The number of chairs placed in a hall is 45. The total number of chairs that can be placed there is 96. How many more chairs can be placed?)
